The Development Management Team has a vacancy for a qualified Planning Officer. You will have a degree (or equivalent) in Town planning, be a member of the RTPI (or eligible for membership) and have experience in handling a variety of planning application types. This role will include working on a caseload of varying types of planning applications, from prior notifications, householders and changes of use, to single and multiple dwellings. The role also includes a case load of pre-application requests.
You should ideally have substantial experience in development management, but policy or conservation based planning work will be taken into consideration. The position entails the completion of a demanding planning workload to meet the required statutory deadlines; therefore, the right individual must be able to demonstrate strong time management skills and an ability to work under pressure. The role requires liaising with both external and internal parties, negotiating with applicants, agents and third parties and effective communication with other members of the team. Therefore, the role requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
