Help shape and deliver the vision for Harborough District’s future.

Harborough District is situated in rural south Leicestershire and includes a wealth of heritage and substantial prospective growth areas. The District has also received similar recognition.

We are growing our Strategic and Local Planning Team and looking to recuit an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Planning Policy Officer to join us. The postholder will join the team at an exciting time and will play a key role in delivering significant amounts of prospective growth identified for Harborough in the Leicester and Leicestershire Strategic Growth Plan.

As an experienced and highly motivated policy planner, you will work as one of a small team of dedicated planners to prepare both strategic and local planning policy for the District. You will join the team during the final stages of adopting the Harborough Local Plan, advising and assisting Development Management colleagues in its implementation. You will have the opportunity to get involved in a range of exciting projects preparing future policy to help deliver the scale of growth envisaged by the Strategic Growth Plan, influencing projects from the beginning.

You will need to be a team player with a ‘can – do’ approach; committed to meeting challenging targets and maintaining the quality of the environment across the District. To succeed, you’ll have a planning qualification and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of strategic and local planning policy preparation, ideally in a local authority environ. You will be a Chartered RTPI member or be eligible for membership. You will need to be able to occasionally attend meetings and events out of normal office hours, with notice.

We offer a range of excellent benefits, including flexible working hours, generous holidays, and discounted leisure facilities membership. The Council would be willing to consider applications from candidates seeking a part-time role.
