Service Manager – Development Management

Warrington is one of the most successful towns in the country, regularly being ranked as one of the best places in the UK for economic performance and quality of life for its residents.  It is a key gateway, centrally placed within the Northwest of England at the heart of a highly connected network of Motorways, mainline rail and waterways – key ingredients for its economic success.  The Council has an ambitious growth and regeneration programme set out in “Warrington Means Business”. However, Warrington’s distinctiveness is also largely driven by its unique pattern of green spaces – a legacy of the New Town and its green belt setting.  This open space forms a framework on which the Warrington Means Business development programme will hang.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced leaders to join and help us shape a Development Management Service that is at the heart of the delivery of our ambitious plans. You will provide leadership and direction to our planning officers to ensure the delivery of the Council’s objectives including the planning growth proposed in our emerging local plan.

Development Management is a priority, frontline service within the Council and has extensive engagement with our elected members, residents, businesses and other stakeholders and, as such, we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individuals to take the service forward. Our aim is to become a top quartile performer, delivering high standards of customer service and development of a quality that we can be proud of.

Utilising your management skills and experience, your focus will be on delivering a proactive Development Management service that supports and enables development opportunities. With ambition and drive, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player with the ability to make things happen.
