About the Role

Based in Surrey, you will assist in all aspects of the preparation and monitoring of the Council's Local Development Framework (LDF) and other planning policy documents and give advice on planning policy matters to internal and external customers.

This will involve working on the production of documents making up the local development framework and carrying out research into a variety of topics as part of the work on the preparation of the LDF and other policy documents.

Therefore you shall be assisting in the preparation of Sustainability Appraisals/ Strategic Environmental Assessments of draft Development Plan documents whilst providing advice to the Development Management team, Councillors and the public.

About you

You will ideally be eligible for Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and have significant experience working in Planning Policy within a Local Authority. You will have experience of undertaking or supervising sustainability appraisal work, preferably in support of the preparation of development plan documents.

You will also have knowledge of Planning Legislation and how the planning systems operates whilst demonstrating sound knowledge of the Local Plan process, including statutory consultation processes and how evidence base documents fit into plan preparation.
