Planning Enforcement Officer

A brand new opportunity has arisen in a vibrant North-East London Borough for someone to join as a Planning Enforcement Officer to work on a project dealing with rogue landlords. This will be a rewarding project that ultimately reduces the amount of substandard housing in the borough and has a positive impact on residents’ lives.

You will have demonstrable experience of Planning Enforcement, ideally in a Local Authority, and the preparation of reports and statements for formal action and serving notices. They are looking for someone who is proactive and can catch breaches of planning at an early stage.

If you don’t have lots of planning experience, they are still open to speaking to you. Other backgrounds could include: Environmental health enforcement, Security and Police, other roles involving investigative duties.

The day rate for this role is between £200-250/day.

Your duties will include:

• Investigating breaches of planning control
• Acting as lead officer on the project
• Preparing reports in relation to the breach
• Drafting and serving enforcement notices
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
• Drafting committee reports and when required attending committee to present your case.

This role would be ideal for someone who wants to use their planning knowledge to help alleviate the substandard housing that has been cropping up in the capital.
