Associate Director – Planning Issues

  • Are you a talented Planning Director, who wants to work for a dynamic Company with bold growth plans?
  • Do you want to be part of a company who not only values its people but rewards them accordingly?

About us

We are Churchill Retirement PLC, the fastest growing company in the UK retirement house building sector and we’re looking for people like you.

We’re a family-run, privately-owned business and we’re going places. We’re proud of what we do, and the people we work with. We have ambitious growth plans for the future, now employing 600 people and growing all the time.

We pride ourselves on building beautiful, quality, purpose-built one and two bedroom apartments in desirable locations across the UK for those looking for an independent lifestyle in later life. Developments are designed to take away all the hassle and fears that can be experienced by older people and provide security, peace of mind and independence.

We’ve won a host of awards; most recently we have been recognised by The Sunday Times as the 2nd best company to work for and became the first ever retirement living specialist to have been named overall ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by the WhatHouse? Awards.

About the role

We’re looking for an Associate Director to join our Planning Issues team, based in our stunning Head Office in Ringwood, to take the lead role to achieve planning permission for our beautiful developments, with minimum delay and within appraisal budgets for one of our regions.

This role is not purely office based, you will visit sites and assess for development potential to check planning constraints with local authorities within the region you will cover.

You will create and provide reports to land teams, prepare and progress planning applications within specific time frames and attend meetings to discuss workflow and budgets.

You will build relationships internally and externally, liaising with consultants, design teams and other Directors within the business to name but a few.

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 9am – 5.30pm and Fridays 9am – 5pm.

About you

You will be an excellent problem solver with excellent attention to detail where you will easily identify any procedural weaknesses.

You will have clear and professional communication skills in order to develop relationships and resolve any disputes. You will also be a supportive and motivating manager, eager to develop those within your team.

We would love it if you had Affordable Housing policies and law experience and knowledge; we will require you to have Planning policies, procedures and law experience as a minimum as well as PQE in public or private practice.

You will be a member of RTPI and even better if you have Degree/Diploma in Town Planning or similar.

How you’ll be rewarded

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual holiday entitlement - 26 days + Bank Holidays
  • Company car or cash for car alternative
  • Medical Health Insurance
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Mothercare vouchers - £200 to all expectant mums and dads
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Eye Care Reimbursement Scheme
  • Professional Subscriptions
  • Training Courses
  • Professional development
