PLANNING ASSISTANT (x2)

The Harrogate Borough is recognised for its high-quality urban and rural environment and wide variety of settlements.  There is huge landscape variety ranging from the Vale of York in the east to the Pennine fringes of the dales to the west, including the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We are looking for two Planning Assistants to work in our friendly Place-shaping Team.  The main tasks of the posts include providing professional and technical assistance, handling routine planning consents and tree works, dealing with a wide range of planning enquiries and correspondence, assisting senior colleagues and processing the registration of more complex applications.

We are looking for people educated to GCSE level or equivalent with an ability to read OS maps and architectural drawings.  An awareness and understanding of national and local planning legislation, policy and guidance is necessary.  You will be computer literate and have an ability to work accurately to tight deadlines and resolve conflicting interests.  Good interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with the public is also essential.  A full driving licence is required.  Full training will be given.
