This is an exciting yet challenging time for the Council with significant regeneration opportunities earmarked in Camberley Town Centre.
We currently have opportunities for two Principal Planning Officers to join our Development Management Team:
Principal Planning Officer
You will work as part of a team processing a variety of planning applications comprising a mix of delegated and committee applications. You will deputise and assist the Development Manager and Team Leader with checking of work and by mentoring junior members of staff.
Principal Planning Officer (Major Applications)
Your principal responsibility will be to process major and strategic applications and you should have the experience to lead extensive pre-application discussions and hard negotiations on complex issues.
Both roles will be expected to prepare sound planning reports, present applications to the Planning Applications Committee and, as necessary, represent the Council on appeal including at a hearing or public inquiry.
You will require sound time and project management skills to determine planning applications in a timely and effective manner. Strong organisational ability to meet statutory targets and deadlines is essential in order to manage individual caseloads of applications. The successful applicants will be IT literate, effective team workers and will require a full valid driving licence.
Benefits include a minimum of 25 days annual leave, Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking and lifestyle rewards benefits.
