Planning Policy Manager

Grade J £36,153 - £39,961 per annum

Post No: DP275 –  37 Hours per week

Situated on the northern edge of the West Midlands Conurbation with excellent transport links, Cannock Chase District has a unique blend of urban and rural landscapes including a large part of the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Work is now underway on a review of the Cannock Chase Local Plan.  We need someone to help us strike the balance between regeneration and conservation objectives whilst accommodating significant housing, employment and town centre growth.

We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner to shape our thinking on planning policy issues, who can lead and inspire a small team and has excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to use Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook to create reports and policy statements.

In addition to managing people and processes you will also need to be the Council’s ambassador and negotiator at the neighbourhood and regional level. There is also an opportunity to play a key role in the management of the Cannock Chase AONB which has been selected as one of the host venues for the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

You will need to be willing to attend evening and weekend meetings and have the ability to make site visits and attend meetings within and outside the District.

In return we can offer a supportive and stretching working environment with opportunities to develop new skills and abilities, invaluable experience as a planning professional, and most importantly an opportunity to shape the future of Cannock Chase District for future generations.

Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is essential for this role.
