Planning Policy Officer - South West National Park

I am currently working with a client of a National Park in the South West, who is keen to bring on-board an experienced Policy Planner. Offering an 8 month contract and a negotiable rate. The client is looking for the potential candidate to start as soon as possible and be able to hit the ground running.

Based in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this area is a stunning place to work. The client is looking for the prospective candidate to have experience of consultations.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Oversee, project manage and assist in the production of documents making up the local plan
• Carry out research into a variety of topics as part of the work on the preparation of the local plan and other policy documents
• Monitor the local plan.
• Carry out consultations on the local plan and other planning policy documents including attendance at exhibitions and meetings
• Prepare and present evidence supporting the Council's case at the Examination
• Provide professional advice and training on planning policy and development matters to the public, Members and other professionals
• Analyse the need for local affordable housing.
• Support development management colleagues in interpreting policy for planning applications
• Assist in monitoring planning policies.

The prospective candidate should:

• Have previous Local Authority experience, but not essential
• Be RTPI accredited or RTPI eligible
• Be driven and focused
• Have experience of examinations and consultations
• Hold a degree in a relevant field.

The role is an 8 month contract, with some level of home working will be offered. A minimum of one day from home, however the client is happy to look at the possibility of two days a home and two in the office. The rate is negotiable depending on experience.
