Swale Borough lies in an attractive and diverse part of Kent involving urban, rural and coastal areas.
The Council is embarking on a review of its Local Plan and we are seeking skilled and talented planners and urban designer/landscape specialists to support the work on the unique range of planning challenges and opportunities posed by the many significant major developments and garden community proposals likely to come forward.

This post offers a unique opportunity to progress
and lead on the garden communities policy and masterplanning as well as having a direct involvement with progressing associated planning applications. The successful candidate will also need to work closely with the Local Plan Team to establish, where appropriate, suitable development strategies and allocation policies. This will require an experienced and highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, ideally with policy and development management experience; able to negotiate confidently with major developers; lead complex projects; able to work as a team player, with excellent communication skills and an ability to work to deadlines.

Council benefits: career average pension scheme, professional fee payment, flexible working (including opportunities for home working and job share), employee benefits package and generous leave entitlement.

Swale Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Council considers that all post holders should be able to communicate clearly and concisely.
