An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated planning professional (operating as a Spatial Policy and Delivery Officer) to join our Spatial Policy and Delivery team at Lichfield District Council.  We are based in Lichfield City Centre, a vibrant city centre which offers an attractive working environment. Lichfield District is situated within the high quality rural environment of south east Staffordshire, adjacent to the West Midlands conurbation. As one of the region’s most sought after locations for housing, the district faces a number of complex and exciting planning challenges, concerning the natural and built historic environment, infrastructure delivery and economic development.

The role is primarily concerned with carrying out the Council’s responsibility for the preparation and delivery of statutory Local Plans and other planning policy documents such as Supplementary Planning Documents and development briefs; advising and guiding on community-led plans; and ensuring that this work is coordinated as part of a seamless ‘whole service’ approach to Development Management.

You would be expected to contribute to the broad range of functions involved in developing and delivering the Local Plan and its associated functions and in addition would be expected to develop specialist skills in one or more areas which would enable the team to provide a comprehensive and professional range of skills aligned to national and local policy priorities.
