Senior Historic Buildings Advisor

Our Client based on the South Coast are currently seeing a competent Planning Adviser to provide specialist professional advice in relation to planning process on matters related to historic buildings and conservation areas.

The role will involve providing specialist conservation advice to planning officers, historic building owners and consultants on appropriate treatment to historic buildings as well as offering expert advice and assisting in negotiating on heritage related proposals with development management and enforcement teams.

This will include:
Meeting with applicants, architects, and developers to negotiate on all aspects of historic environment and detailed design matters.

Researching and preparing evidence for appeals and present cases on historic buildings and conservation as an expert witness.

Giving expert specialist advice to the Planning Policy team in relation to strategic projects and updating or interpreting the Local Plan.

If you ideally have a degree or equivalent qualification in architecture or urban design or a related degree such as architectural history or construction then this could be for you. Eligibility for membership of RIBA, IHBC or RTPI is also desirable.

In return you will be offered an initial 3/4 month contract which can be carried out on a full time ( 5 days) or part time (3/4 days) per week basis to suit you.
