The London Borough of Sutton
Situated on the edge of London, just 30 minutes from London Victoria, Sutton offers a highly varied workload with major town centre developments, industrial area improvements and Conservation Area and Green Belt issues to address. In addition, your input will be valued on the recently adopted Local Plan strategic priorities, such as the development of the London Cancer Hub campus, the regeneration of Sutton Town Centre, the renewal of the Wandle Valley area and ensuring the district centres retain their special character.

The Role
You will input into council-led schemes, such as the London Cancer Hub, and provide design guidance on applications and pre-applications to raise the quality of new developments – a Councillor priority. You will also lead on the council’s emerging Urban Design Guide and be engaged in other planning policy documents. 

The Successful Candidate
We are looking for an urban designer, with appropriate qualifications and relevant experience. The successful candidate will be able to provide advice on all various types of development, to create locational-specific planning policy documents and to present to Members, developers, key stakeholders and our residents. You will be a part of a friendly but professional team, be able to prioritise deadlines, manage projects effectively and have excellent written and oral skills.
