We're looking for a bright, ambitious and proactive Senior Planner or Principal Planner to join our client’s Manchester office. You will be busy, challenged and well rewarded.

 

Our client holds an excellent reputation in the Northwest, supporting clients in the development of residential, educational, health, retail and infrastructure projects, by provision of development management and planning policy support, as well as preparing SA/SEA’s.  The company are looking for expertise in some, and not necessarily all of these areas.

The Senior Planner will receive an excellent salary, bonus and car allowance. You’ll be joining a sociable and growing planning team who regularly mix with colleagues from other disciplines. There’s a wide variety of formal and informal networking opportunities that can be attended such as RTPI events, football tournaments and networking dinners.

 

The Role

The Senior Planner will work on all development sectors, and your wider responsibilities would include:

  • Responsibility for managing small, medium and large planning delivery projects
  • Responsibility to undertake a significant technical role as part of an integrated project team on multi-disciplinary strategic planning projects.
  • Organising and helping facilitate stakeholder workshop sessions and deliver technical presentations.
  • Proactiveness in being client focused, understanding the needs of the project and offering high quality, professional town planning advice.
  • Providing support on business development efforts and develop business awareness through resource & project management.
  • Committed to continuing professional development and career progression and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Providing guidance to junior staff within the team and over time start to oversee and manage junior and graduate staff.

 

The Person

The Senior Planner will be a Chartered member of the RTPI with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. Ideally, most if not all of this experience will have been in the private sector. Core attributes include enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, a sound academic background and an ambition to progress in a young, dynamic and growing organisation. The Senior Planner will have an up to date knowledge of local planning legislation and have experience of the appeals process.

The Senior Planner will have excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with multi-skilled teams internally and externally. Above all, you will have a pro-active and positive approach to your career.
