My client, a local authority based in Leicestershire are looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer within their Enforcement team. You will be brought in to assist in the delivery of an effective and efficient Planning Enforcement Service in accordance with adopted service standards and defined performance indicators.

 

You will be joining as a Planning Enforcement Officer in a growing team who are looking to expand their staffing levels by adding new members of staff to handle a high backlog of cases in a busy service. 

 

Duties for the Planning Enforcement Officer role will be:

  • Manage a caseload of alleged unauthorised development and ensure these cases are investigated and appropriate action taken, in accordance with the Enforcement Plan, with particular personal responsibility for serious and potentially controversial proposals.

  • Collect, collate and analyse evidence in respect of unauthorised development and prepare associated reports, witness statements and correspondence attending and presenting these to Council committees and public meetings, appeal hearings and Inquiries and in a Court of law as required.

  • Prepare evidence and witness statements and appear as an expert witness for the Council at all types of planning appeals, examinations in public, public inquiries and court hearings as required.

  • Conduct interviews and prepare statements in accordance with PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act).

  • Prepare and serve formal legal notices in accordance with statutory procedures and adopted performance standards.

  • Deal with general enquiries from the public on planning and planning enforcement matters and assist Councillors, Town and Parish Councils and others in understanding the issues involved.

 

To be successful for the Planning Enforcement Officer job, you will have previous experience working as an enforcement officer and demonstrate the ability to handle a high or complex caseload.

 

The client will be looking to pay between £22-28 per hour for the successful Planning Enforcement Officer applicant and would be looking for the candidate to start as soon as possible.
