The Job:
South Northants Council is facing a high level of growth and the Council has ambitious plans for the future. The District has a diverse range of market towns, conservation villages and urban development projects, including on the fringes of Northampton. It also includes Silverstone Circuit, the home of F1 and South Northamptonshire forms part of the emerging Oxford to Cambridge Corridor. The post is based at The Forum in Towcester within one of the Development Management teams processing and making recommendations on minor and householder planning applications.
The Person:
You will have been educated to at least A level standard with 0-3 years planning technical support experience or will have a Planning, Geography or Environmental Science related degree or will have completed at least the 1st year of an RTPI accredited part-time combined or spatial postgraduate degree / diploma and be willing to work towards RTPI membership. Experience of dealing with minor planning applications within a local government environment is desirable but not essential. You will also need good interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written; be well organised with the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team; have a flexible approach to workload; be able to work under pressure; and have a current full driving license.
