Senior Planner, Part Time
Development Management Team
Temporary fixed term contract 1 year
Salary: £ £43,782 pro rata, 22 hours per week
If you thrive on action, you will love Dartford. Working for an ambitious authority that is well and truly on the map, no two days will be the same. Located on the edge of London, Dartford is a Borough of two halves: significant growth and regeneration in the north, with Green Belt and strong constraints on development in the south. We have exciting proposals to transform Dartford Town centre, major riverside development and a range of employment, leisure and residential schemes coming forward. We have a 5 Year Housing Land Supply in place and are meeting the Housing Delivery Test.
We need an extra pair of hands to help us with a focus on protecting our Green Belt, although some urban work may be involved as well. A strong planning input is needed for our enforcement work, supporting our enforcement officers in providing planning advice and input at appeals. We also need help with a range of small but complex applications.
We are looking for a seasoned Planner with solid experience, a good understanding of Planning law and an ability and willingness to undertake assessment of complex planning histories.
The successful applicant will join a professional, experienced and efficient team which is ambitious in striving for positive outcomes. We have a mutually supportive and sociable team culture. Development Management, Planning Policy and Planning Administration are well integrated with each other and striving to achieve common goals.
Closing date: Monday, 7 January 2019
Interviews will be held on Thursday, 17 January 2019
22 hours per week. Flexi-time available. Free parking
The Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer
Company
Located on the border of Kent, London and Essex, Dartford is one of the most exciting and dynamic regions in the country. It has enviable connections to Central London with the new Elizabeth Line just a 10 minute train ride from Dartford’s central station.
According to the most recent census data Dartford has experienced one of the fastest population growths in England in the previous 10 years and is a community that is rapidly diversifying too. The local economy is strong with Dartford being in the top 5% in terms of employment and in the top 20% for GVA per head, workplace earning and job density in the South East (source Caxtons Property Market Report 2022)
At the heart of the Borough’s vision, to make Dartford the place of quality and choice by focussing on community, sustainability and a prosperous economy, is a commitment to improving facilities and creating opportunities for existing residents.
Over recent years the Council has invested in a range of cultural and leisure facilities, not least the current programme of redesigning play spaces across the borough. The Council is also working with public and private sector partners to deliver a programme of streetscape and road improvements through Dartford Town Centre. All of this alongside being a council that consistently performs well in terms of service delivery for its residents.
