Hounslow Planners are an award winning team looking for a Senior Planner at the upper end of the grade and another planner at the start of their career. The team are currently working on two opportunity areas, two housing zones and a wealth of interesting planning applications including the relocation of Brentford Football Club, development of the Sky campus and TV studios and redevelopment of Brentford and Hounslow town centres. We have high housing targets to achieve, new schools to place children in and need to create opportunities for employers who want to be in our well located borough. This must be balanced against green belts, listed buildings, conservation areas and River Thames frontage that need protecting.
About The Roles
We a have a post for a Senior Planner to help with the delivery of major sites; leading on complex and major planning applications, liaising with developers, applicants and senior officers, conducting negotiations and presenting applications to Planning Committee. The appointment will be commensurate with experience.
We also have a post that would suit a Planner at the beginning of their career and offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience and to develop a strong foundation for a career within the Built Environment, determining a large number of householder and minor applications, as well as contributing to the overall work of the teams.
The posts require candidates who have a vision for developing the built environment to achieve the council's aspirations, who have the confidence and capability to engage with developers, carry a caseload of major applications, and the ability and experience to work with less supervision in delivering the service.
The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. We will be moving to a new landmark building in 2019 located in Hounslow town centre, and our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.
