About the Role
Having completed Part 1 of their Local Plan, you will have day to day responsibility for the preparation, consultation and implementation for Part 2 of their Local Plan. Working collaboratively with an enthusiastic and well organised team, this Part contains Development Management policies and will involve reviewing a suite of local designations and allocating sites needed for housing or other uses in certain areas of the Borough - LPP1.
Consultation on Preferred Options has been completed and they are currently in the process of developing the pre-submission plan with the view of going to further consultation thereafter. Submission to SOS is likely to be around March time with the hope of adoption just before Summer.
Their LDS is currently under review so timescales may change.
You will be required to present and advise on matters relating to planning policy to Cabinet, Committees, Council members, other Council Divisions, the public and outside organisations.
The contract is for an initial 3-6 months, however, it is anticipated the duration will extend beyond 12 months. An office presence would be preferred in the initial weeks although flexible working is available (home working/compressed working week).
About you
You will ideally be eligible for Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and have previous experience (5+ years) either leading Local Plans or SPDs within a Local/ Regional Planning Authority.
Previous management or mentoring experience would be beneficial in your application.
You will also have knowledge of Planning legislation and how the planning systems operates whilst demonstrating sound knowledge of the Local Plan process; including statutory consultation processes and Neighbourhood planning (preferred but not essential).
