Conservation Enforcement Officer

My client, a Dorset based Local Authority are looking for a Conservation Enforcement Officer to join their Planning Department to provide a positive and professional contribution in the provision of a comprehensive and efficient Development Services function.

You will be joining as a Conservation Enforcement Officer in a growing team to assist the Senior Conservation Officer through playing a proactive role in the protection and management of the Dorset Council Partnerships historic environment, working in partnership with external agencies and local communities to achieve corporate objectives.

Duties for the Conservation Enforcement Officer:

• To assist in managing the Council’s statutory enforcement functions regarding the historic environment, including the preparation of Section 215 notices and gathering evidence in accordance with PACE protocols where there are planning breaches related to heritage assets.
• To provide specialist heritage advice to owners of listed-buildings and buildings within conservation areas. To provide heritage advice to internal and external bodies to assist in public realm improvements within conservation areas. To prepare and maintain a shopfront Design Guide that is approved for use as Supplementary Planning Guidance in conservation areas.
• To work with owners or those responsible for heritage assets considered to be at risk to secure the restoration, re-use or repair of these assets.
• To source and apply for funding to assist in the regeneration of conservation areas and listed-buildings.
• To be aware of current and emerging legislation and Government Guidance and to update officers and Members as appropriate.
• To represent the Council and work in partnership with a range of external bodies and organisations with an interest in the historic environment.

In order to be successful for the Conservation Enforcement Officer role you will need to have previous experience in a conservation and heritage environment, and hold a full UK Driving Licence with access to your own vehicle.

The client will be looking to pay between £13-20 per hour for the successful Conservation Enforcement Officer and would be looking for somebody to start as soon as possible.
