As a result of progressive growth within the region, Persimmon Homes East Midlands (based in Peterborough) is now looking for an experienced Development Planner.  The primary purpose of the job is to evaluate in conjunction with outside consultants as necessary potential residential development sites against Local Plan policies and optimise their development potential.  Co-ordinate architects and other consultant activities for timely submission of planning applications.  Negotiate the application to the point of obtaining a satisfactory consent.  In conjunction and co-operation with the Technical Director, to obtain fee quotations from each consultant and manage each job to ensure that the fees expended accord with the budget and timescale determined by each land acquisition appraisal.  To strive for continuous improvement of the Persimmon planning, community and political liaison function of the business.

KNOWLEDGE

To carry out main tasks:

Current and relevant Town and Country Planning Act Legislation and existing and emerging local planning policy, as necessary elementary building regulations, some knowledge of methods of construction and latest materials.

Skills: Effective communication skills in briefing in-house colleagues, external consultants, negotiation with Local Authority Officers together with Persimmon’s long term desire and wish to liaise directly with local residents, stakeholders and Councillors.
