Full time - 37 hours per week, Permanent contract
Up to £48,258 per annum + £2,907 Car Allowance per annum
Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience
Rother District Council is looking to appoint a suitable candidate to the role of Development Manager following the retirement of the current post holder. A qualified and experienced Town Planner with suitable management experience, you will be driven with vision and enthusiasm to be able to lead a friendly and committed team to deliver planned development in the District. You will also have a working understanding of conservation matters and rural planning policy having particular regard to the beautiful historic character of “1066 Country” and the High Weald AONB.
As the Council’s lead professional advisor on development management matters you will be responsible for overseeing the processing and determination of all planning and related applications, appeals and enforcement matters, and will manage the planning and enforcement officers, as well as conservation and design professionals.
Key requirements for this role include leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with various outside bodies, the public and politicians, including working closely with the Planning Committee.
