Bracknell Forest is a Unitary Authority situated in an area facing continuing growth pressures. Large housing developments are now coming forward and our regenerated town centre with new retail outlets, homes, restaurants and leisure facilities opened last year. To ensure that the Council is resourced to deal with increased development activity we are seeking to appoint two Planning Assistants.

Both posts provide a graduate in planning or related fields an excellent opportunity to take forward their career in a respected planning authority which is currently experiencing a rise in planning applications.

The first role is to process and determine planning applications as part of the Development Management Section. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with good communication skills to provide advice to those using our services, particularly responding to enquiries from members of the public in relation to householder and smaller commercial developments. The successful candidate will work in one of two Development Management teams and will gain experience in dealing with planning applications and associated appeals.

The second post is within the Implementation and Infrastructure Team in the Planning Policy Section. The role will provide an opportunity to gain experience of section 106 Agreements and other infrastructure related matters. There will be opportunities to get involved in policy preparation and in work to support the implementation of the Community Infrastructure Levy to address the demands that growth places on the Borough.

We are looking for a versatile individual who enjoys working with a range of people across the Council and who is willing and able to undertake a variety of duties expected of a Planning Assistant.

We will pay your annual subscription to a relevant professional body. Whilst a full, clean driving licence is required, we do provide pool cars for conducting site visits.

Please call Basia Polnik, Team Manager (Development Management) on 01344 351134 or Simon Cridland, Team Manager (Infrastructure and Implementation) on 01344 351186 if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.
