Job Details
Title: Town Planner
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £22,000 to £30,000
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented Planner to join a leading consultancy in Cardiff. You will have an opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of projects with support and guidance from more senior members of the office. This is a fantastic opportunity to rapidly develop your career as part of a supportive and collaborative team environment.
The Town Planner will possess excellent technical planning skills, an enthusiasm for high quality and sustainable placemaking and provide an exceptional service to an enviable client list. In return, you will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities including APC mentoring and guidance.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Delivering a comprehensive planning service on developments across the South West by coordinating professional teams to submit a range of applications
- Promoting medium and large scale residential and mixed use developments (both Brownfield and Greenfield) through the Local Development Framework
- Assisting with developing client relationships
- Co-ordination of project teams and project management
- Conducting research and site appraisals on projects for our client base
- Preparation, submission and negotiation of planning applications
- Preparation of planning statements
- Policy representations
It is essential that candidates:
- Have a strong knowledge of current planning legislation and experience working on residential and mixed use developments
- Have a demonstrable working knowledge of development control (planning policy experience would be highly desirable too)
- Have excellent communication skills and an ability to liaise with both internal and external clients
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Are able to work with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use their own initiative
- Have a strong team capability
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car
Additional desirable attributes would be:
- Working towards MRTPI qualification
- Some consultancy experience
- Knowledge of planning in the South West
