Your role

This is an exciting role for a qualified planner who is looking to increase their profile and progress their career.

You will manage a caseload of pre-application enquiries and planning applications, almost all of which will be challenging or complex in some way. This is a role in which we aim to develop high performing people and plan for succession, so if you demonstrate the aptitude and capability there will also be the opportunity to handle much larger and higher profile cases.

At all times you will be expected to be proactive, holding the relationship between the Council and the developer and project managing the pre-application and planning application process.

About you:

You will be commercially minded and an effective and proven planner. You will be a self-starter, highly motivated and enthusiastic about development, with a passion to deliver an effective and responsive service. This role will play a key part in the delivery of the Deal for the Future and the growth of Wigan Borough.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability and confidence to build positive working relationships while providing advice and guidance to residents, colleagues, businesses and elected members.
