1 ROLE PURPOSE
  • Support the effective renewal and regeneration of the Borough
  • The negotiation, assessment and determination of major and complex planning applications delivering significant levels of investment within the Borough
  • Supervision of Case Officers on specific, complex proposals
  • The processing and representation of the Council's case in respect of planning appeals
  • Providing specialist, professional planning advice in response to enquiries
  • The monitoring and improvement of performance in the handling of planning and related applications handled by the planning team.
  • Deputise for the Area Team Leader
  • Determination of appropriate planning applications under the Council's Scheme of Delegation
  • Assistance in developing Planning Performance Agreements and providing pre-application advice on complex cases
  • Line management of Technical Support Officers within the team.





2 DIMENSIONS
  • Supervision of junior officers and consultants/projects as required
  • Supporting team leaders in the allocation of workloads
  • Training and mentoring of junior staff
  • Annual workload of the development management teams:
    • Around 4,000 planning and other applications pa
    • Approximately 100 planning appeals pa
