A Local Authority in Buckinghamshire is looking for a skilled Planning Consultant to take on a Team Leader role within a new team in the Development Management service.

In this role, you will be managing a small and friendly team whose focus is to work efficiently and proactively through a backlog of applications. The role would primarily involve the day-to-day management of the team, mentoring, ensuring timescales are being adhered and driving performance forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team working on a mixed caseload of backlog applications, which will vary from householder and minor to major.
  • Making sure clear channels of communication are kept open between all parties, both within the Council and outside the Council and applications are process in a timely manner.
  • Prepare detailed committee reports and present at committee when required.
  • To provide professional advice regarding a range of planning matters associated with Major applications/schemes including pre-application enquiries/ planning performance agreements.
  • Mentoring junior members of staff and conducting 1 to 1s.
  • Allocating and signing off the Teams applications.

Candidates should hold several years' experience of planning Development Management experience within a Local Authority, having strong communication skills and experience managing a team would be highly beneficial.

The Authority would ideally like someone in the office as much as possible but would consider a compressed week, or 1 day working from home. The role is Outside IR35 and is 3 months initially. Rates are negotiable dependent on the candidate's experience.
