Team Leader - Oxfordshire

A Local Authority in Oxfordshire is looking for a skilled Planning Consultant to take on a Team Leader role within the Development Management team.

The Authority is situated in a picturesque, rural area of Oxfordshire. In this role, you will be managing a small and friendly team and processing a mixed caseload of applications. The role would primarily involve the day-to-day management of the team, mentoring, ensuring timescales are being adhered to and managing your own caseload.

Responsibilities:

• Managing a caseload of complex minor to medium/small major planning applications within statutory time frames.
• Provision of paid pre-application advice to developers, architects and external consultants.
• Coordinate and independently carry out site visits and prepare detailed reports.
• Advise planning enforcement teams about retrospective planning approval and variation to conditions.
• Prepare detailed committee reports and present at committee when required.
• To provide professional advice regarding a range of planning matters associated with Major applications/schemes including pre-application enquiries/ planning performance agreements.
• Mentoring junior members of staff and conducting 1 to 1s.
• Allocating and signing off the Teams applications.

Candidates should hold several years' experience of planning Development Management experience within a Local Authority, having strong communication skills and experience managing a team would be highly beneficial. The Council would also be interested in candidates who are currently at Principal level and looking to make the step up.

The Authority would ideally like someone in the office as much as possible but would consider a compressed week, or 1 or 2 days working from home. The role is Outside IR35 and is 3 months initially. Rates are negotiable dependent on the candidate's experience.
