Senior Planning Officer
Scale PO2 £33,136 - £36,153 per annum
37 hours per week
South Derbyshire has for many years been the fastest growing district in Derbyshire and is currently one of the fastest growing areas in England.
We are aiming to deliver over 12,600 new homes and supporting employment and infrastructure needs by 2028. In order to achieve this growth, the Planning Service has recently undertaken a service review to support the strategic objectives of the Council by helping to shape the district, enhancing and promoting high quality performance and design.
We are looking for a creative and forward thinking Senior Planning Officer to join the team.
You should have experience of working in Development Management, be able to demonstrate good report writing and problem-solving abilities and work to deadlines with the minimum supervision. You will be responsible for processing a wide range of planning and other applications. Representing the Council in appeals, and negotiating planning agreements. You must also be able to visit sites throughout the district. The Senior Planning Officer (Design) will act as the lead advisor on promoting and securing high standards of design across a mix of urban extensions and rural developments.
You must hold an MA in Spatial Planning or other qualification to a similar level recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute. Candidates for the design role would also ideally hold a specialist qualification in Urban Design or similarly related field but candidates, who can demonstrate good design analysis skills, willing to train further, would also qualify.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Tony Sylvester – Planning Services Manager on 01283 595743.
Closing Date 21 October 2018
