Delivery Planner

Up to £36,000 + Car Cash Allowance and excellent benefits

Based Birmingham or Hatton (Warwick)

About the role

Our National Planning Delivery Team plays an important part in the work of the Canal & River Trust by securing planning consents for sites and activities that help us make sure life’s better by water. Your role in this successful team will be to provide a wide range of planning support – everything from securing and negotiating planning permissions for a variety of projects, to providing day-to-day planning advice, resolving planning enforcement matters and advising on the use of permitted development rights.

About you

We're looking for a chartered town planner with experience of working in a delivery capacity, whether in the private, public or charity sector. This will have given you a sound knowledge of planning, heritage and environmental law, and of the relevant planning regimes in England and Wales. You will also need a good understanding of Government reforms and policy objectives along with political awareness. Other qualities we look for include commercial acumen, solutions focused, strong negotiating and influencing skills, and the ability to build effective internal and external working relationships.  You will also have experience of interaction with the public, customers and stakeholders.

About us

One of the UK’s biggest charities, we maintain 2,000 miles of historic canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs, along with museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of protected historic buildings – preserving them for future generations. We believe living waterways transform places and enrich lives. Achieving this vision will be a fascinating challenge. Come and be part of it.

To apply

We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do.

In addition to your annual salary, you will benefit from car cash allowance, generous holiday entitlement and a competitive contributory DC Pension scheme.

Please quote reference number 2018-5459 when applying.

Closing date for applications: 22nd October 2018.
