Senior Principal Planning Officer

Our client is a Local Authority and they are looking for a Senior Principal Planning Officer to join their Majors Team for a role where you will assess all types of major planning applications including strategic ones. You'll lead on negotiations for a range of planning applications to ensure community benefits are secured and the Council's regeneration objectives are met. You will prepare and present Committee reports on major proposals of strategic importance and you'll prepare statements, proofs of evidence for public enquiries and act as professional witness.

This is a great opportunity for a Planner who is looking to take a step into a role with management responsibility as you will assist in the management and direction of the group including the co-ordination of the work of the group, and the setting of priorities. This role could also provide you with the opportunity to be involved in the recruitment and training of staff.

To apply for this role you will need to be a degree qualified Town Planner with a strong development management background. You will need to be comfortable managing your own caseload and able to work well under pressure when required. You will need to be well organised and confident dealing with external third parties and able to produce well written communications. Your strong knowledge of UK planning legislation will enable you to provide pre-application advice and you will be confident when advising developers on planning proposals; good negotiation skills are essential.

This role is based in South East London and our client is looking to pay around £40/hr, the role is inside IR35. Initially this role will be offered as a 6 month contract.
