Uncommonly known as the ‘sunniest’ place in Britain, this Local Planning Authority are seeking a Senior Enforcement Officer to join their multi-disciplinary team on an initial 12 month contract!

Responsibilities

Your main duties will be:

  • To investigate alleged breaches of planning control, deciding whether a breach of planning control has taken place and if so, whether the development is acceptable
  • To provide professional planning enforcement related advice to members of the public, including site owners and their agents; staff; and councillors.
  • Where possible to seek to resolve problems relating to unauthorised development without taking formal action, by negotiating with members of the public, including land owners and their professional agents
  • To prepare reports for the Development Management Team Leader recommending the approach to be taken
  • To prepare reports to the Planning and Licensing Committee recommending whether enforcement action should be taken - in so doing providing detailed advice to members
  • To draft enforcement notices, stop notices, breach of condition notices and other statutory notices
  • To present evidence in Courts of Law.
  • To provide advice relating to enforcement and planning matters to councillors and staff.

Candidate Experience

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Have 3 years Planning Enforcement experience (Essential)
  • Be educated to degree level in planning or a related subject (Desired, not essential)
  • Hold Chartered membership of the RTPI (Desired, not essential)

Working Arrangements

  • Pay rates likely to be between £30-40 per hour (Negotiable upon experience)
  • IR35 status in unconfirmed
  • Notices will be considered – shorter notices will be favoured
  • Flexible working is available – to be discussed on a case by case basis
