Great Yarmouth is a leading holiday resort on the edge of the Broads National Park. Great Yarmouth Borough Council is generating an ambitious programme of regeneration and development, from which there are challenges ranging from Seafront and Town Centre regeneration to addressing brownfield site development. The prospective candidates for each of these roles will be expected to engage with these challenges.

Ideal candidates will hold a recognised Planning degree (or a degree in a similar discipline) and have Development Control experience. It is expected that you will undertake site surveys and inspections. A full driving licence and vehicle are required.

You will deal with a variety of cases ranging throughout the breadth of the planning system. The working environment is a busy one which provides the opportunity to expand knowledge and pursue self-learning in all areas of planning practice.

You should be able to demonstrate competence and capability, be self-motivated and be prepared to be part of a team. You will be expected to work under your own initiative, meet tight deadlines and be computer literate, with an aptitude to learn and promote new system technologies.

We offer a friendly working environment with attractive terms & conditions including generous holiday entitlement, flexible working and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding these posts, please contact Dean Minns, Planning Manager on (01493) 846420 or Gemma Manthorpe, Senior Planning Officer on (01493) 846638.

You can apply online via our website. Please note CVs are not accepted.
