Director of Architecture and the Built Environment

A rare and exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Director of Architecture and the Built Environment at one of the UK's most prestigious charities renowned for using design and regeneration of the built environment to stimulate growth, enhance places and cities, supporting happier, healthier and safer lives for all.

They are seeking a driven Interim Director to undertake a 12 month fixed term contract to lead and review Architecture and Built Environment operations and programmes as well as playing a pivotal role in the development and growth of new and existing business opportunities.

You will act as a spokesperson on all aspects of the built environment, place making and design driven innovation, in conjunction with the delivery of Design Review Services for some of the UK’s most prestigious regeneration projects and masterplans.

Furthermore you will play a pivotal role in devising new corporate strategies, identifying key market opportunities, develop services to generate income, growth and new revenue streams spanning the public, private and third sectors.

Key Responsibilities Include;

• Play a lead role in the development and generation of new business whilst maintaining and enhancing existing client relationships
• Develop and implement strategic objectives for the delivery of appropriate change management and implementation plans
• Work strategically and collaboratively with other services to review and identify design innovation across a variety of sectors that influence future development within the built environment.
• Ensure adherence to business targets set through the programme operations and annual review of business planning opportunities
• Manage complex stakeholder relationships across a variety of sectors and services
• Play an active role mentoring and development of a large multi-disciplinary team

The ideal candidate will have acquired significant experience operating at a Senior Managerial level within the built environment from either an Architectural, Planning, Urban Design or Landscape background as well as having significant aptitude for generating new business and building robust relationships with new and existing clients.

Moreover, you will have exemplary commercial acumen, analytical skills and have keen interest in development and the built environment with a progressive philosophy and aptitude for embracing new design innovation and how it can influence the development of the built environment through architecture, planning, regeneration and urban design.

Finally, you will be a highly capable hands-on team leader with a demonstrable track record of building and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams in conjunction having excellent verbal and written communication skills.
