Heritage Planning Consultant / Urban Designer - Central London Council - £40ph plus

Your new company
This Central London Council are currently recruiting for a Heritage Consultant to work alongside the Planning team focusing on mostly providing advice on historic buildings (listed buildings and conservation areas) and urban design relating to minor and major development schemes and listed building consent applications.

Your new role
To manage high quality provision of design and heritage advice throughout the council's development management processes, to manage and deliver related projects, and to generally promote and champion high quality design and heritage throughout the borough.
To apply a high level of professional knowledge, discretion and creativity in ensuring that the council's planning policies are delivered and carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with relevant legislation and the council's planning policies.
To provide the council's principal urban design and heritage expertise and to respond to requests for advice and guidance across the authority, and in response to the needs of external customers. To support the council's Design Review Panel, its chairs and members in the preparation of briefs and reports on proposed development schemes, and in any future arrangements. To work with Development Management planners and developers to drive up the design quality for all development across the borough.

What you'll need to succeed
A background in heritage and urban design within a Council Planning department and working on large complex and sensitive projects. Ideally you will be degree qualified in an RTPI accredited course and have a diverse experience across spatial planning, development management and conservation.
