Job Details
Due to continued growth and further investment our client, a national multi-disciplinary is looking to recruit a Senior Planner with policy experience to join their thriving office in Bristol.
You should have in excess of 3 years' experience in the planning policy and evidence sector and will be expected to support the team to undertake development plan policy and evidence work, such as housing, employment, green belt and gypsy and traveller evidence and other Local Plan policy drafting, production/management and critical friend support.
You must therefore be able analyse and problem solve, advocate solutions verbally and in writing and also convey ideas clearly to your colleagues. You should, whilst working in a team environment have the determination and ability to work also on your own initiative to develop their skills and support work winning and marketing:
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Responsible for supporting public sector work load, including tenders and project work. Planners report accordingly to the office management, whilst managing their own workload which they are responsible;
- Manage junior staff members when they are available to assist on a wide variety of projects;
- Support marketing and business development activities for public work in conjunction with Senior staff;
- The role offers the scope for a diverse workload and whilst the focus of work for this role will be public sector policy and evidence, the role also provides scope to undertake planning application work for local developers on small scale private developments to diversify candidates' skill sets. Consequently a good grounding in development management work would be a bonus.
Our client are looking for an MRTPI qualified Town Planner, or someone actively work towards accreditation. It is essential that the candidate has a solid grasp of the English language both verbally and in writing and be competent in report and letter writing in the context of the English and Welsh planning system. In addition, the role will require a strong aptitude for the use of office-based software, such as Microsoft office, outlook, GIS and mapping. A full driving licence is essential.
