Principal Town Planner

Osborne Richardson have an excellent opportunity for a Principal Planner to join the Development Management team of a Local Authority in Berkshire. This is an exciting time to join our client as they are undertaking some major regeneration and renewal projects which are resulting in a huge amount of development including new housing, leisure and commercial facilities and transport links.

You will take a lead role within the team managing major and complex planning applications and dealing with contentious development control issues, including undertaking negotiations with applicants/prospective developers and representatives of other Council departments. As a senior member of the team you will be expected to represent the Council by preparing and presenting expert and professional evidence at public inquiries, informal hearings and in court.

With this role there will also be the opportunity review and improve our clients current processes and implement ways to improve and streamline them.

To carry out this role you will need to be a degree qualified town planner with experience working as a senior member of a local authorities development management team. Ideally you will have experience of working on applications of 100 units and over and have a comprehensive understanding of the current issues and developments affecting planning, regeneration and local government in the UK.

Initially this will be a 3 month contract but will run for a minimum of 6 months and the rate offered will be £45-£50p/hr depending on experience. Please get in touch for more information.
