Senior Urban Designer

Your new company
Your new company is the second busiest council for processing applications and has the most active enforcement authority in England. The major applications team deals with large-scale projects including 6 regeneration areas and other major developments in excess of 150 units. The team also partakes masterplanning and planning briefs as well as contributes to the preparation of the local plan. The borough boasts 17 conservation areas and a large greenbelt land that offers valuable experience for planners keen on broadening their range of planning experience within the borough.

Your new role
Your new position will require adding value to spatial plans, proposals and policies within the preparation, review and evaluation stages. You will create innovative and practical design concepts relevant to planning policies and in the context of specific sites. Your role will include providing design guidance in pre-application discussions and evaluating existing policy framework.You will also provide written and verbal advice in the context of public meetings, inquiries, examinations and committee presentations amongst others.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have great working knowledge of computer software programs including 3D software, Microsoft Office and GIS as well as in depth understanding of urban design and planning policies. You will have experience of assessing development proposals in the context of urban design and you will have past experience of evidence based studies from an urban design perspective within local authority.
