In this senior position you will be taking on a ranged caseload of major planning applications, such as: residential, commercial and industrial. There will also be an opportunity to work on controversial planning applications and appeal cases, covering all types of development issues, working collaboratively with the Enforcement Team.

You will be managing large scale planning applications in the area, making sure that the Council is getting the most from important developments and maximising relationships with key stakeholders, such as planning consultancies, the public and local businesses. You will be liaising with developers, Members and managers within the Council.

If you are looking to take on management duties as well as a caseload of applications, there is also the opportunity for you to take on a Team Leader position. You would be supporting the team in processing major applications, assisting and mentoring members of the team in their learning and development and representing the Planning Department at committee.

The contract will be for an initial 3 months but is likely to extend. They can offer flexible working arrangements and competitive rates.

Candidates should hold several years experience of planning Development Management experience within a Local Authority, having previously dealt major applications and be able to hit the ground running with little to no supervision. Experience in a management or Team Leader role would also be highly beneficial if you are looking to take on a Team Leader role. You will have demonstrated an ability to effectively prioritise work-loads and manage projects within timescales

It would be preferable if you were MRTPI accredited. You should have excellent knowledge of planning legislation and planning process and a desire to keep knowledge up to date, maintaining an excellent level of competency to deal with constantly changing legislation.
