Job Details
One of our local authority clients are looking for a Conservation Officer to join the team on a 5 month contract.
The prospective candidate will join the Senior Conservation Officer as part of the Heritage Conservation Team within the Development Control section and their work will include providing Development Control officers with advice on proposals impacting on conservation areas, locally listed buildings and the settings of listed buildings.
They will also be expected to answer general queries on heritage assets within the District and provide formal pre-application advice. There may also be opportunities to work on the preparation of conservation area character appraisals and other guidance documents.
The Senior Conservation Officer and/or the Principal Planning Officer for Heritage, Enforcement and Landscape will oversee the post-holder and allocate work but it is expected that the post-holder will be self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative.
A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential for carrying out lone site visits.
This local authority are based in Essex, within easy reach of London and most of Essex and Hertfordshire, with great transport links.
There will be an opportunity to negotiate flexible working arrangements and home working.
