Senior Planning Officer

A Local Authority based in Surrey are currently in search looking for a senior planning officer officer who can handle an exciting mix of medium to major applications. There is a lot of Development in the area and the Local Authority require a candidate who can hit the ground running and tackle the case load of applications without supervision. The role will last an initial 9 months, with a high chance of extension. The client are willing to pay £35-£40p/h for the role.

You will play a crucial role processing and managing a mixed case load of minor-major applications such as: residential, commercial and industrial (householders, flats, 50+ resi schemes etc.). You will also have an opportunity to work on controversial planning applications and appeal cases, covering all types of development issues, working collaboratively with the enforcement team.

You will be with managing large scale planning applications in the area and making sure that the council is getting the most from important developments and maximising relationships with key stakeholders, such as planning consultancies, the public and local businesses.

You should hold several years’ experience of planning (DM) within a local authority having previously dealt with either minor or major applications, appeals and enforcement issues. It would be preferable if you were MRTPI accredited. You should have excellent knowledge of planning legislation and planning process and a desire to keep knowledge up to date, maintaining an excellent level of competency to deal with constantly changing legislation.
