Enterprise and Innovation Project Manager (Outside IR35)

Job Purpose:

To work proactively with a wide range of senior stakeholders and potential delivery partners to support the development, implementation and management of Enterprise & Innovation programmes as defined in the Strategic Economic Plan, European Union Structural and Investment Fund and arising from the Local Growth Fund.

Support the Enterprise & Innovation Board in achieving its objectives by providing expert information and guidance and will have overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of the Enterprise Growth Hub. This will involve the ongoing development of senior collaborative partnerships with the private, public and not-for-profit sector.

Main responsibilities

Strategy

To manage Enterprise & Innovation activities including projects arising from the Local Growth Deal and EU funding

To be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Growth Hub

To be responsible for the review of business support activities /signposting in line with business needs and in support of a simplification pilot

To support the Enterprise & Innovation Board in achieving its objectives by providing expert information and guidance

Partnerships

To lead the relationship with EU opt-in organisations; UKTI and Growth Accelerator

To manage and build innovation relationships with universities, colleges and other partners from business and the not for profit sector

To develop enterprise and innovation relationships with other LEP areas

To work with other Project Managers to maximise opportunities for collaboration across the key themes of enterprise, innovation, skills and infrastructure

To act as the primary contact for business support and innovation partners

Delivery

To provide input into the annual Enterprise Business Plan and ongoing review of Strategic Economic Plans

To lead impact assessment reporting for enterprise and innovation

To work with the PR team to maximise opportunities for publicity, making a contribution to the PR strategy



Person Specification



Degree level qualification with experience and / or technical qualification to lead a major project or programme within an economic development context.

Excellent project management and organisational skills

Effective influencing and persuading skills

The ability to plan ahead and control multiple activities working against tight timescales

The ability to build a rapport with partners from both the private and public sectors and gain their respect and trust

The ability to think creatively and solve problems when they arise

Good communication skills (written, verbal and presentations)

Good management skills: the ability to lead others and to work well within a team player

A good knowledge of business support and innovation initiatives with the ability to keep up-to-date with Government policy changes and how they might affect the enterprise and innovation programmes

A high level of computer literacy

Terms and timescales:

This is a 6 month contract, starting ASAP. The client will assess CV's as they receive them and look to arrange interviews quickly. Whilst they are in need of someone urgently, they appreciate that people will need to give notice from their current positions.

Rates of pay are expected to range from £40 to £50/h ltd. The role has been confirmed as outside of IR35.
