Introducing ourselves:

Sefton is a diverse and exciting borough where people can enjoy a great work / life balance. It encompasses world renowned nature reserves, accessible business and retail centres, top class leisure facilities and a most attractive coastline. With excellent transport networks to Liverpool and links to Manchester, it is an ideal location for accessing the North West and beyond by road, rail or air.

Sefton has in excess of 250 Tree Preservation Orders and 25 conservation areas, and fields up to 200 applications a year for works to protected trees. We are looking for an experienced officer to help promote the understanding, conservation, management and enjoyment by the general public of natural heritage, particularly trees.

Job requirements:

You will advise colleagues, Councillors and the general public on arboricultural and design matters, providing arboricultural advice at all stages in the Development Management process, including pre-application advice, determination and appeals, to ensure high standards of landscape and arboricultural design in new development, including the protection of existing trees and the planting of new trees.

You will have an arboriculture qualification or similar and will be well versed in relevant development management legislation and procedures such as tree preservation order applications, enforcement and appeals. You will have excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills and experience in working effectively and collaboratively within a local authority, across agencies, with the private sector and local communities.

Closing date: 5 July 2018

Interviews will be held week commencing 16 July 2018.
