Introducing ourselves:

Sefton is a diverse and exciting borough where people can enjoy a great work / life balance. It encompasses world renowned nature reserves, accessible business and retail centres, top class leisure facilities and a most attractive coastline. With excellent transport networks to Liverpool and links to Manchester, it is an ideal location for accessing the North West and beyond by road, rail or air.

Sefton is experiencing unprecedented development pressure, having recently adopted its Local Plan and this is leading to increasing pressure on the enforcement service.
Recent staff changes have led to an exciting opportunity to strengthen our approach to enforcement. It is proposed to create a new team led by this postholder, also comprising two other enforcement officers and an arboricultural officer.

Job requirements:

You will need to demonstrate high levels of knowledge and expertise with the experience of working constructively with partners across public and private sectors. You must have a successful track record of working effectively within planning or a related environmental function. You will put the customer at the heart of the service, have a ‘can do’ approach, and excellent interpersonal skills.

We are looking for an experienced enforcement officer to join our Development Team to manage the enforcement function and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Planning Service. You will have extensive experience of working in enforcement in a local authority and ideally experience of management. You will have strong communication and negotiation skills, an ability to prioritise many competing demands, and an aptitude for getting work done through managing others. You will be able to demonstrate an innovative approach to enforcement to make the best use of limited resources.
You will need to have a flexible and positive approach to work, along with extensive knowledge of planning legislation and guidance. We require a strong commitment to customer care, and the ability to work with others to achieve practical and positive solutions.

Closing date: 5 July 2018
Interviews will be held week commencing 16 July 2018.
