Reporting to the Development Management Team Leader (Strategic Team) we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and versatile development management professional to join our Strategic Team to work on, and deliver, key projects including Alconbury Weald ( including and Enterprise Zone and 5K+ houses) and the St. Neots Eastern Expansion Area ( inc. 3.8k new homes).

We are looking for a Senior Development Management Officer with a strong desire to contribute to the delivery of successful place making and deliver the Council’s key growth agenda, while also overseeing other complex and challenging development proposals.

You will have experience of dealing with a variety of planning applications, including major applications, pre-application enquiries and planning appeals, and you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills along with the the ability to work with a range of stakeholders. A detailed knowledge and understanding of national and regional planning and development issues, legal processes (including S106 and Environmental Impact Assessments) and policy trends is essential.

In turn, as a minimum, you will need to demonstrate that

  • You have good analytical skills, and
  • experience of a broad range of computer systems.
  • You can present your case persuasively and write comprehensive, sound reports for a variety of application types including large-scale major and complex applications; and you
  • Have good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • You have sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and procedures.
