Are you looking for a new opportunity with in Hampshire within a City council as a Principal planner on a permanent assignment with in Development management team.
The suitable candidate would have at least three years relevant experience reaching a satisfactory standard of professional competence in all aspects of development management. Working as a Principal Planning Officer within Development Management. You will be undertaking all aspects of development management commensurate with the grade of the post under the supervision of the Team Leader and Head of Development Management.As well as undertaking other planning projects at a principal level as may be prescribed from time to time.

The successful candidate would be required to:

• Undertake all development management duties to a professional standard organise workloads and meet deadlines in accordance with the department's performance indicators.
• Assess and make recommendations on planning applications, including major projects
• Prepare delegated reports on development proposals.
• Prepare committee reports and present recommendations to the Development Control Committee and other committees and working parties.
• Represent the Council at Planning Inquiries as the planning witness.
• Represent the Council at Hearings.
• Undertake written representation appeals.
• Carry out pre-application discussions and negotiations with applicants, developers and their agents.
• Carry out post application implementation discussions and negotiations.
• Undertake specific planning projects as may be specified from time to time by the Team Leader and Head of Development Management
• Undertake other planning work in other teams within the department as may be prescribed from time to time by the Team Leader and Head of Development Management
• Carry out any other duties as defined from time to time by the Team Leader and Head of Development Management

The client is centrally based and is within walking distance from public transport as the client entourages using this mode of transport, but the office can be reached via private transport, ho however parking is limited. Site visits are to be carried out by the pool cars provided.

The salary is Circa £34 000 - £40 000 pa and would include various benefits that coincides working with in the public sector.
