This is an exciting time to join our high performing planning team, which is at the heart of delivering high quality development in Cheshire East. Our unique geography and heritage provides an unrivalled variety of planning experience, ranging from small scale rural schemes to major urban regeneration and housing developments and strategic infrastructure projects including HS2.

As a Principal Planning Officer you will play a lead role in our planning team.  You will be responsible for supervising a small team of planning officers and leading on a caseload of complex planning applications and appeals. You will take a lead role in reporting to Planning Committee and will be responsible for signing off delegated planning decisions on behalf of the Council.

You will need a strong technical knowledge, report writing and IT skills. You must be disciplined and organised to meet deadlines and manage your team. You must be enthusiastic, flexible and open to change.

The role requires an experienced planning professional with significant experience working within Development Management with a Local Planning Authority.  Experience of working in a private practice would also be desirable. You must be a self-motivated team player and demonstrate excellent customer care. Ability to travel throughout Cheshire East and a full UK driving license are required.

This position requires you to declare any unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions Order 1975), where prompted to do so within in the application process.
