Transportation Planner- Dorset

I am working with a Local Authority in the Dorset area who are looking to bring on an experienced Transportation and Infrastructure Planner on a contract basis ASAP.

My client are looking for somebody to take on the responsibility of developing transportation strategies that encompass the needs of all transport users including pedestrians and cyclists. You will need to consider environmental, efficiency, and safety issues.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • developing potential solutions to problems such as congestion
  • assessing the impact of recent building developments, such as a new housing estate, on transport systems
  • designing research methods and survey techniques
  • modelling traffic flows using mathematical techniques and specialist computer applications
  • analysing and interpreting data
  • preparing reports and publications
  • giving presentations about proposed transportation options
  • acting as an expert witness during public inquiries
  • staying knowledgeable about government transport and planning policy

A brilliant candidate will be able to also potentially handle a caseload of planning applications on top of this.

My client understands that this is potentially an extremely niche position to recruit for. As a result, they are prepared to offer a potentially extremely lucrative deal with regards to hourly rate, and flexible working arrangements.

If this position sounds like something suited to your skill set, or something which you would be interested in pursuing, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I would be happy to tell you more about the role.

You can contact me on 0203 795 4828 or email me on

I look forward to hopefully hearing from you soon!
