Planning Manager/Director London
In the early seventies, the Dutch football team showed the world a style of play called ‘total football’.
It was a radical re-imagining of people’s positions and responsibilities. It involved new tactics, new theories, new skills and an entirely new game-plan. It took them all the way to the 1974 World Cup final and changed the game forever.
You know what? It’s time to shake up planning.
My client is well known throughout the UK and punches well above its weight in the North, the Midlands and the West of England. They work on architecture, transport and infrastructure, Heritage Asset Planning and Community Resource Planning. The small but perfectly formed London team needs a Planning Director to bring a radical shift in expectation and a new game-plan to their work.
You’ll be responsible for the entire office - from overseeing instructions to new client development and day-to-day management of staff, budgets and strategy. Like all new managers, you’ll be directly accountable to the board.
This might be a big step up for you, an opportunity to leapfrog a few promotions, or you might be running your own team already. Either way, unlike football, when the board says it backs you fully – they mean it.
They’re interested in your background, your understanding of public and private sector developments and your list of contacts. But, most of all, they need you to inspire the team, build the business and take them to the next level.
In return, you can expect the freedom to develop the office and the tactics however you see fit. You’ll be very well compensated and take shares in the business.
Get ready to show the capital a brave new style of play.
